Abstract

Orientation of Ukraine towards European education, improvement of domestic special and inclusive education and implementation of foreign experience, implementation of the tasks of the National Academy of Sciences, rethinking of certain conceptual provisions with special pedagogy requires scientific and applied research aimed at approving innovations, taking into account the priority directions of modernization in this area. In general pedagogy, there are many publications on the research activities of higher education graduates, pedagogic and scientific-pedagogical workers. In special psychology and pedagogy, scientists have described the methods of scientific research according to the contingent of children with special needs. Targeted research on the specifics of research activities in the field of special and inclusive education was not conducted. The purpose of the publication is to define the features and describe the requirements for scientific research in the field of special and inclusive education, methods of taking into account the psychophysical characteristics of persons with special educational needs when conducting scientific research. It has been investigated that scientific research in the field of special and inclusive education must, on the one hand, meet the general requirements of pedagogical research, and, on the other hand, meet specific requirements determined by certain characteristics of institutions and respondents. The research methodology and procedure should be adapted to the peculiarities of cognitive activity, the emotional and volitional sphere of individuals, ways of communication, characteristics of the family, certain subjective factors; it is necessary to provide for various types of assistance; use terminology exceptionally clearly. The effectiveness of research increases if its design is clearly planned and systematic, and the method of conducting takes into account the psychophysical characteristics of individuals. In order to integrate Ukrainian special pedagogy into the global space, the prospects of further scientific research should be aimed at comparing approaches, requirements, methods, procedures and description of research in foreign and domestic practices.
